What is the time commitment for BCDE?BCDE meets approximately 3-4 times a week. Rehearsals are typically at night during the weekday and in the afternoon during the weekend. Please note that this rehearsal schedule is subject to change, as The Office of Student Involvement determines our studio time each semester. Dancers are expected to attend every rehearsal and be available for performance opportunities throughout the academic year.

Where are practices held?BCDE practices in Brighton Dance Studio (2115 Commonwealth Avenue) on Brighton Campus. We have additional rehearsal space in dance studios located in Carney Hall, McElroy Commons, and the Margot Connell Recreation Center.

What kinds of performance opportunities will I have? There are a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year. In the fall semester, we perform in Week of Dance (WOD), a two-night showcase featuring BC’s dance teams. Each spring, we prepare for our annual Spring show and Showdown, a dance competition hosted by the AHANA+ Leadership Council (ALC). We also perform at campus-wide community events including, but not limited to, The Arts Festival, Rookie Showcase, and the Best Buddies Talent Show. All ticket proceeds are donated to the Campus School. Please see our community page to learn more about the Campus School.

How does BCDE create a sense of community? Our team works hard to cultivate a welcoming, supportive environment for all team members. Throughout the year, our Member Relations plans several team bonding activities, such as team dinners, DE field day, and our end-of-year banquet. We also encourage team members to support one another at smaller performances and non-dance related activities. Boston College has a robust dance community, filled with so much talent and passion. We love dancing alongside, learning from, and supporting 16 teams of different styles and backgrounds. Our dancers attend workshops hosted by other dance teams and their annual performances. Beyond dance, we pride ourselves in our involvement within the greater Boston College community. Please see our community page to learn more about the types of events and organizations we are involved in.
